Cento "Patchwork" Poetry Using Song Lyrics (Maxine Flasher-Düzgüneş)

A cento is a poem formed from lines of poems written by other poets. Latin for “patchwork,” the cento is composed like a collage or quilt. In this workshop, Poet-Teachers will learn an effective lesson plan where youth create a Cento in the classroom using song lyrics.


Maxine Flasher-Düzgüneş is a poet, educator, dance artist and US-UK Fulbright Recipient from Mill Valley where she was first introduced to CalPoets as a budding first-grader at Strawberry Point Elementary. She engages with the disciplines of choreography and visual art as creative tools for grasping poetic language. Since 2016 she has taught hybrid dance & poetry workshops to kids…
