About the event
Erasure and Collage Poetry: Creating Crafty Poems in Class
Led by James Coats, Poet-Teacher, Riverside
In this workshop we will learn what erasure poems are and the many creative ways that they can be produced. We will also explore collage poems and hope to craft literary and visual pieces of art. This session will discuss the supplies and best techniques for cultivating a fun, expressive session in the classroom. (Materials needed: Please bring a dark marker, scissors, glue and a magazine or book you don't mind cutting up)
James Coats is a multidisciplinary artist, author, and educator born in Los Angeles and raised in the Inland Empire. As a creative change agent he believes the arts can inspire youth and influence positive change in the world.
